Thoughtfactory: abstractions

developing the tradition of photographic abstraction

quartz abstraction #10

I cannot remember the exact location of this macro photo of quartz and lichen that I constructed as an abstraction. It was made in  the late summer -- the digital file says  early February 2022.

Looking at the surrounding files I can see that I would have been walking from Dep's Beach back to the car that would have been parked at Kings Beach lookout. It was made whilst on an afternoon poodlewalk as it was around 7pm.

I am struggling to  remember.

Though I cannot remember  making this photo I can  now recall its location. It was a  a block of quartz  that I would usually walk past because of its unappealing shape. This time I decided to go macro. Judging by the digital  files I only made one photo.  I walked on and found something similar:

That afternoon I was looking  for dried salt ponds amongst the rocks to photograph.  The tide would have been low and the day hot as the seawater amongst the rocks had evaporated and become what I call salt ponds.  These are small and very ephemeral as the evaporation depends  on a low tide during the day and a hot sun.
